50th Wedding Anniversary Couple Celebrate at Rideau Street Home;
Married at Long Lake, Ont. on Oct 11, 1899, Mr. and Mrs. Marshal Price of 33 Rideau Street, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this week on a beautiful autuMinnesota day.
Mrs. Price was formerly Addie Smith. The couple have one son, W. E. Price, and two daughters, Mrs. H. E. Clarke and Mrs. G. M. Cronk, all of Kingston.
On the 11th, numerous friends and relatives called, with the son and daughters greeting them at the door. Many fine gifts, flowers and cards were received, among them flowers worn by bride and groom 50 years ago, gift of their grand-daughter, Mrs. Wanda Gault, and her son Allan. Bruce and Eric Price, small grandsons, presided over the guest book.
The tea table was covered with a filet lace cloth, and centered with a three-tier wedding cake decorated with sprays of tiny golden roses and gold leaves. the cake was flanked by tall golden candles in crystal holders. Those presiding were Mrs. Mary Leader, bridesmaid 50 years ago, Mrs. Lucretia Drew, Mrs. Nellie Cronk, and Mrs. Ada Price, all aunts of the celebrating couple. Assisting were Mrs. Charles Clarke, Mrs. Malcom Clarke and Miss Shirley Clarke.
Mrs. Carrie Magee and Mrs. Mary Price, two other aunts of Mr. and Mrs. Price were among the guests.

CRONK -- Looking for descendants (any Cronk) of of family of James Barker Cronk b. 18 Jun 1818 and Mintchie Vanhorn and their children Albert Wellinton Cronk b. 29 Jan 1847 and Henry “Selwyn” Cronk b. 3 Jan 1858. My Cronk(s) came from Mountain Grove, Ontario and branched out into Parham, Long Lake, Kingston. Some migrated to US. This particular branch goes back to Abraham Cronk I and II. However, I cannot link to present-day Cronks. I am missing a generation or two.
Julie,
In regard to your query on the Kingston Genealogy Society Web page.
I am not sure of the link between James Barber Cronk and my family family (Price) however my
grandfather’s brother Nicholas Marshall Price from Mountain Grove ON married a woman by
the name of Prudence Smith whose mother was Victoria Cronk. The information below is taken
from their obituaries probably from the local Kingston Newspaper the Kingston Whig Standard
however it came to me from other sources while conducting my own family search.
According to the obituaries the Smiths were from the Parham area as evidenced by the reference
to Long Lake and Hinchinbrooke Township both of which are just south of Mountain Grove.
Marshall (as he was called) and his wife Prudence moved to Kingston, had a son Wilbur Price
and 2 daughters one of which was Vera Price. Vera also married into the Cronk family to a man
named Gerald M. Cronk. Gerald Cronk owned and operated a barber shop here in Kingston ON
until about the late 1960’s or so (going from memory). Gerald and Vera lived on Toronto Street
here in Kingston. Both Gerald and Vera are now deceased and if memory serves me they had no
children. Vera (Price) Cronk’s brother Wilbur Price is still living here in Kingston and is in his 90’s.
In regard to your Albert Wellington Cronk, the obit for Prudence Adaline Price indicates that her
mother’s one brother was named Wellington Smith. Also my great grandfathers half brother was Matthew Wellington Price also from Mountain Grove. Perhaps there is some connection there as well.
Marshall and Prudence Price are buried in the Cataraqui Cemetery here in Kingston (see
attachment). The second attachment was taken from a memorial plaque in Mountain Grove.
There are 2 cemeteries there, the Olden (Township name) Cemetery and the Olden Pioneer
cemetery. I recall that the name Cronk was quite prevalent on various tomestones when I was
visiting there.
I trust this information is of some use to you
